Technique
Welcome to the backdoor !
Would you like to know more about the techniques used to create the Schmurtz?
How is this little clay guy animated?
Learn more about the evolution of those techniques?
Or maybe are you simply curious...?
Then you are at the right place !
Here, you can learn more about the different techniques and process used in
the creation of the Schmurtz's adventures.
As you may have noticed while watching the three movies, the techniques used followed
a chronological order. Indeed, the first episode was shot using very basic techniques
and allowed us to discover how animation works. In the second movie, we innovated a
bit more, especially in the editing stage. Finally, the third movie is the most
accomplished. You can see there a panel of what we can do in terms of animation techniques
and mesure the progress since the first one...
The connecting thread between all three episodes is the animation technique called stop-motion.
It is how the first two where shot and has a large place in the last one. But the third episode
also allowed us to try new techniques and process: video, cartoon, virtual 3D and
other special effects.
